Breathing Space – July 30/12

When I thought the rocky peak at the top of the pass could not be more majestic, a flock of birds flew over and took my breath away.

Reaching inward and venturing outward as the Snoqualmie River flows onward past my doorstep and life runs freely through my being, I set pen to page to share what I perceive. Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountain foothills town of North Bend, Washington USA. Her heart has found its home.

  Wish I would’ve got my composure to capture the birds quicker. I must admit I got lost in the moment I first saw them. They flashed with white in the sun as I noticed them almost overhead…and they were huge! I couldn’t think to identify them. I was in this spot because I turned ‘the wrong way’ when I got turned around taking a different photograph. I encouraged my young friend with me to enjoy where life leads because you never know what you might find when you turn left instead of right, and left might be ‘right’ after all.

    They didn’t call out that I remember, but they were definitely close enough I would’ve heard them. They flew over us, but I was absorbed in taking photos of the peak already so didn’t really notice them until they were just in front of us. Then I stopped to ‘Wow’ and forgot to keep shooting. Sometimes its good to experience the moment ‘live’ instead of through the camera. I’m just sorry I missed the glints of sun on white wings to share with you all. It was astounding. Thanks for appreciating what I did catch.

  I definitely appreciate the nomination, and I’m honored to be chosen! I have to admit I haven’t been too good at follow up on my last couple of award nominations.
