Weekly Photo Challenge: Mine

Best Smile Ever – On the way to a reef in the Carribean Sea – Jamaica 1997

When I thought about what is ‘Mine’, I realized that most things are fleeting, and I’m hesitant to lay claim to more than a moment.  There’s a moment in time that stands out above all others for me, and fortunately it was captured on film. (Pardon the dusty scan of a photo print.)  My now husband, we were dating at the time, and I had been out to the reef in Jamaica the day before, but were sent back by a sudden storm just after getting our first glimpse underwater.  We decided to try it again the next day, and the day was gorgeous.  This beautiful smile was captured when Marion was anticipating getting out to the reef.  I have seen him smile many times since, but there was something about the glow of this one that has stayed with me and symbolizes the fabulous love and many moments we have shared that are ‘Mine’.

Left brain, right brain, I can't decide. After many years of successful visual arts pursuits, I'm working on my other creative inclinations. Reaching inward and venturing outward as the Snoqualmie River flows onward past my doorstep and life runs freely through my being, I set pen to page to share what I perceive. Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountain foothills town of North Bend, Washington USA. Her heart has found its home.

  1. Great shot. Interesting, my husband just shared a recent photo on me on Facebook, sharing my smile. Love shines in the smile.

    • Very nice! I almost couldn’t share this one because my husband is shy and began to protest, but he decided he was ok to share. It’s interesting that this came to mind for ‘Mine’ and it is indeed the love and abounding happiness in this smile that I cherish.
