While the mountains are hiding in the rain, the river brings cheer. The Common Mergansers are a…well…common sight in the river and seem to love the area in our yard to hang out and dive for food. Here the male in mating plumage floats while the female is under the water.
Photo credit: Marion A. Kennedy. I told my husband the light was too low to get a shot, but he insisted he could, and he pulled it out pretty well for the light and the distance. I thank him for salvaging today’s Breathing Space.

About sherijkennedyriverside
Left brain, right brain, I can't decide. After many years of successful visual arts pursuits, I'm working on my other creative inclinations. Reaching inward and venturing outward as the Snoqualmie River flows onward past my doorstep and life runs freely through my being, I set pen to page to share what I perceive.
Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountain foothills town of North Bend, Washington USA. Her heart has found its home.
Great shot, Melvin.
Yeah, I guess I better listen to him more often. I didn’t even try because the light was so low, and it worked out just fine.
