Breathing Space 12-12-13The dipper fishes icy waters for its lunch.

About sherijkennedyriverside

Left brain, right brain, I can't decide. After many years of successful visual arts pursuits, I'm working on my other creative inclinations. For the past 8 years, writing has been my second full time job, and it's worth every sleepless night. Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountains. Her heart has found its home.

  1. Our Welsh dippers have white shirt fronts!

    • I knew you had them there, but didn’t know they were physically different. I just read this article that shows a picture of the white shirts. 🙂 That white certainly would help catch your eye. Ours can only be spotted by their busy movements and especially their characteristic curtsey bobbing when they stand on rocks. They are also often quite noisy when flying as they defend their territory vigilantly. I was interested to learn in the article that one family of dippers can keep a territory for more than 100 years. I know our locals’ territories well. And we see them often.
