This was actually a failed shot of a merganser, but I like the way it caught the snow falling on the river.
And here’s my best shot of the mergansers. It was tough to capture them with a zoom in the falling snow and moving river. They were also very busy fishing and were only above the surface for seconds before diving again. While far from perfect, I like the shot and how it shows how well their pattern blends with the snowy rocks and river’s surface.

Left brain, right brain, I can't decide. After many years of successful visual arts pursuits, I'm working on my other creative inclinations. For the past 8 years, writing has been my second full time job, and it's worth every sleepless night.
Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountains. Her heart has found its home.

You’re right it was a very chilly day. I wasn’t on the porch for long. I’m always amazed at how the birds can be in the icy water!
