A dipper came by and was very busy fishing from the rocks. You can see him diving into the current on a short video HERE. (click HD) These remarkable songbirds swim and dive in frigid whitewater currents without webbed feet. They are the only bird with a transparent eyelid that protects their eye underwater while allowing them to see.
You can see in the photos this unusual eyelid glinting and a dipper’s typical trick of putting its head below the surface to scout for prey.
