T is for Trepidation

I watched this stick all afternoon as I sat writing by the river; it was rocking and writhing, shaking and twisting, unable to move on. Both ends caught equally in the current, tossing it back and forth–undecided. It seemed to quiver with trepidation. There was tons of open river for it to travel on. It didn’t matter a speck which path it chose. It would move on with equal ease and speed.

It reminded me of myself when I was young. Agitated by fear. Unsure which way to go. If I could’ve sat back on the riverbank of life and had a wider perspective, I would’ve seen that I was upset for nothing and my hesitation was only a waste of time. And even now, once in awhile I catch myself up against a rock…

Go! Choose! Flow with the river and enjoy the whirling waters on your way to the wonders to come…

About sherijkennedyriverside

Left brain, right brain, I can't decide. After many years of successful visual arts pursuits, I'm working on my other creative inclinations. For the past 8 years, writing has been my second full time job, and it's worth every sleepless night. Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountains. Her heart has found its home.
