It snowed all day until evening and then more came overnight. The sun began to peek through and then it clouded up and warmed up, so the melt is on. Beautiful while it lasts! I decided to put all the best photos up at once instead of doling them out day by day…and you can see videos of the snow falling by the river Here and Here…
Snow Beautiful!

My gnome’s getting a little weather worn, but I love him too. đŸ™‚ The bird is a varied thrush, and I hadn’t seen them until I moved to the foothills. They’re not city-dwellers. They are foragers and when we first moved in they were in our yard as a small flock all winter. Our neighbors built a fence and they quit coming every day at breakfast time. I was sad as I enjoy their company as well as their beauty. Since they found us after the snow, a few have been back each day. So maybe they’ll re-pattern to hop the fence this year. They have a unique mating call with the male sending out a long burry whistle at one pitch and then the female answering about three seconds later with a similar call at a lower pitch. They start it in January and it’s one of my favorite things to wake up to in the morning.
