The narrow creek between the river and lake has spent so much time dry that the plants decided it’s fertile ground and have sprouted up and grown with vigor. The clearing filled with shallow water allowed a perfect gap for the low golden sun to rush through like a stream of fire.
These images are part of a series posted chronologically from one river walk on Jan 13/18. I wanted to take you along on this beautiful winter day and share what you might have stumbled upon if you were walking in my shoes. To take the whole walk, start with clicking on Along the Way and use right arrow or Older Posts button to scroll through them all. Or use the Search tool just below the posts to find Along the Way. I’ll keep adding images each day until we wander back home.
Our garden pond did the same thing during last summer and autumn. I’m hoping that now the pond has refilled the plants will struggle to survive.
Beautiful photo!

Yes, it would be difficult to get in there to cut them down. I suppose this is how bogs become woods. I would imagine if it stays with standing water the plants will languish eventually. Thanks!
