A short drive brought a nice reward… Glad to see the elk are still out and about! After they crossed, I turned the corner and they stayed by the road for a close-up.

Left brain, right brain, I can't decide. After many years of successful visual arts pursuits, I'm working on my other creative inclinations. For the past 8 years, writing has been my second full time job, and it's worth every sleepless night. Sheri J. Kennedy grew up mostly a city-girl coasthopping from Seattle to rural Pennsylvania, Miami and back to Seattle. She currently resides on the banks of the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Cascade Mountains. Her heart has found its home.

  2. Great pictures, Sheri. I haven’t seen any elk here yet this year. Usually, they just knock over our fences and disappear. 🙂

    • They usually come to our yard when it snows, or during winter storms, but the neighborhood I was driving by (about 2 miles from mine) has them almost all year. They can be a nuisance, but they are also magnificent, especially up close. Such enormous animals, and yet often skittish – like they don’t know their own strength.

How kind of them to pose for you, Sheri! Have they damaged anything in your yard yet this year?
