A short drive brought a nice reward… Glad to see the elk are still out and about! After they crossed, I turned the corner and they stayed by the road for a close-up.

Great pictures, Sheri. I haven’t seen any elk here yet this year. Usually, they just knock over our fences and disappear. 🙂

They usually come to our yard when it snows, or during winter storms, but the neighborhood I was driving by (about 2 miles from mine) has them almost all year. They can be a nuisance, but they are also magnificent, especially up close. Such enormous animals, and yet often skittish – like they don’t know their own strength.

How kind of them to pose for you, Sheri! Have they damaged anything in your yard yet this year?

They don’t generally damage our yard in any way that’s troublesome other than leaving droppings, which is easily taken care of. They chomp down nearly all the leaves on our English ivy, which seems to be draws them to our yard. But with the speed that ivy grows, this is actually a great help to us!

Nothing like some help with the pruning!

Yes, now if they’d just start on the weeding in the front gardens. 🙂
