There was a lot of mist in the valley today, and I found my mind wandering to memories of clear alpine skies on Mt. Baker this past summer.
Panning back from yesterday’s views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan, we can see how the glaciers and rock features fit into the surrounding landscape. To me this is the definition of ‘grandeur’.

One of the best things about the day on the mountain top between Mt. Shuksan (pictured here) and Mt. Baker was that my husband joined me. It’s rare that we hike together, and I enjoyed every moment of it!
At last…I made it up to see Mt. Baker this season, and it could not have been a more perfect day. It’s a rare pleasure to see the whole mountain clear of cloud cover. Well worth the wait!
