About Essence Churning and The Companion Book

Essence Churning is a collection of 23 literary fiction short stories written in November 2011 as part of National Novel Writing Month. http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/dashboard And yes, it met the 50,000 word ‘winner’ goal!  One story, ‘Palms Outward’ has been submitted to the Richard Hugo House Literary Series contest in January of 2012 – results pending.  The rest is under full-swing edit.

The Companion Book is a sketchbook that is in process to be completed by January 31st 2012.  It is part of The Sketchbook Project 2012 through Art House Co-op in Brooklyn, NY and the completed book will be included in the Sketchbook Project Tour 2012.  Check to see if it will appear in a city near you http://www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject2012.  I requested the theme ‘The Companion Book’ with the intention of creating a two-page image for each of the 23 stories in Essence Churning.

(See also images from previous Sketchbook Project under assigned theme, ‘My Life From a Yellow Submarine’ at http://www.arthousecoop.com/users/sheri-kennedy/artworkor a full explanation of the process of its creation with more images at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.279833424417.192049.824124417&type=1&l=2d3068892a)

The debut posting series for sherijkennedyriverside contains excerpts or quotes from Essence Churning with each post being dedicated to an individual story.  A photo image has been chosen in each post to go with the theme of that story.  As they are completed and documented, images of the sketchbook pages for The Companion Book will also be posted.
